Growing Together — Serving Together
We are excited to make a small change to Children’s Church beginning on October 25th that we believe will create opportunities for both our younger children and our older students to grow.
Beginning October 25th, Children’s Church will be for children ages 3 through 4th grade.
Our 5th and 6th graders are reaching an age where they can begin moving toward participating more fully in our regular worship service. At the same time, several of our older children have expressed a desire to continue being involved with Children’s Church and have asked about helping.
We love seeing that desire to serve!
A New Opportunity to Serve
5th and 6th graders who would like to serve as a Children’s Church helper may sign up to assist with our 3–5-year-old class. One helper will be assigned each week on a rotating basis.
7th graders and older may also sign up to serve as helpers with Children’s Church classes of any age, as needed.
Our hope is that this will allow our older children and teens to develop servant leadership while helping our younger children learn, participate and have fun.
Children’s Church Helper Guidelines
Being a Children’s Church helper is a ministry responsibility. Helpers are expected to:
- Follow the Children’s Church teacher’s instructions.
- Stay focused on helping and encouraging the children.
- Help children participate in their crafts and activities.
- Be patient, kind and respectful toward the children and other volunteers.
- Set a good example through their own behavior and participation.
- Keep cell phones put away while serving.
- Remember that the adult teacher is responsible for leading the class and making decisions.
If You Cannot Serve
When you sign up for a Sunday, please consider that a commitment.
If something comes up and you are unable to serve on your assigned Sunday, you are responsible for arranging for another approved helper to take your place and communicating the change to the Children’s Church teacher before Sunday.
This is an important part of learning what it means to serve others — we understand that things occasionally come up, but we also want to teach our young helpers to be dependable.

A sign-up sheet is on the table near the Children’s Church entrance.
When signing up, please provide:

Helpers will be scheduled on a rotating basis according to the needs of the Children’s Church classes.

We are thankful for the willingness of our children and teens to serve. We believe this is more than simply helping with crafts or keeping little ones occupied; it is an opportunity for our older children to learn what it means to serve, lead, encourage, and love others.
