I’m sure you have heard or said yourself, “If it’s not one thing, it’s another.”
Once again, we have been facing more challenges. We wonder, will it ever end: freezing temperatures, record snow fall, power outages, empty shelves at the grocery store, frozen water pipes. I could go on and on.
I am sad to have to write to let you know that we will not have church this Sunday, February 21, 2021. Allow me to explain why. Last Wednesday afternoon, a fire sprinkler went off next to the main entrance to the church. Immediately, the fire department was notified and came to the church. John Conaway was also notified and came. Only one sprinkler head went off, but in a matter of minutes, 1000’s of gallons of water ran into the foyer, sanctuary, offices, classrooms, and East Wing.
A small army came and began cleaning things up. They did an amazing job. It is not known at this time the amount of damage. It does appear it is only minimum. Of course, we will know more in the next few days.
My daughter-in-law, Lori, was able to contact a friend of the family who is in the restoration business. He was able to come out Wednesday night to begin the clean-up. Commercial fans and de-humidifiers are now in the sanctuary and fans in the classrooms.
So, as you can see, another challenge, another opportunity.
I was hoping we could have church this Sunday, but that is not possible. We will have services online, so you won’t have to miss my Sunday sermon. I hope you will be able to join us.
I will keep you posted on the clean-up progress. Thank you for your continual prayers. Your love for the Lord and Southmoore is amazing. Please pass this message onto others who do not keep up with us on their computers and phones.
Habakkuk tells us that even if “the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” (Habakkuk 3:17-18) To Live is Christ, Bro.
